Pickens County Sheriff's Office News Release

 

 

Sheriff Todd Hall announces that in the evening hours of Tuesday September 22, 2020 an unknown suspect led Sheriff's Deputies and several Police Officers on a pursuit through Pickens County.

 

Mississippi Law Enforcement contacted Pickens County 911 dispatch and requested assistance on a vehicle pursuit headed from Mississippi into Alabama.

 

As the pursuit continued into Alabama Deputies from Pickens County Sheriff's Office and Police Officers from Reform, Carrollton and Gordo Police Departments picked up the pursuit.

 

The suspect vehicle repeatedly crossed into on-coming traffic putting innocent motorist at extreme risk. Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Deputies assisted as the pursuit entered Tuscaloosa County and Officers were able to successfully spike the suspect vehicle tires and the pursuit came to an end after being blocked from the front.

 

The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Suspect is in custody in the Pickens County Jail facing County Charges and will be extradited to Mississippi upon his release from Pickens County Jail.

 

The suspects name has not been released as the case is still under investigation.

 

Pickens County Sheriff's Office thanks all responding Law Enforcement Agencies, as well as Pickens County Ambulance Service and Pickens County 911 who were instrumental in accounting for the officers and their safety.
